A copycat is a person that mimics or repeats the behavior of another. The term is often derogatory, suggesting a lack of originality. The expression may derive from kittens that learned by imitating the behaviors of their mothers. – Wikipedia

Plagiarism: The abuse of another’s original work by copying it and passing it off as one’s own. As defined in Alastair Campbell book titled The Designer’s Lexicon. Page: 293 ISBN: 0-304-35505-4.

“Imitation is the sincerest form of thievery” excerpt from a book by Capsule titled Design Matters. Page: 84. ISBN -13:978-1-59253-341-1.

Mate this ain’t art its communication. And stop quoting others rather spend time with your departments helping them coming up with better ideas.
Show me one decent idea that your company has done. Went through your whole agency site and all I could see is mediocre, cringe worthy ideas.
And don’t say oh oh see see we won so many awards in Kuwait! You have been shortlisted just twice in the MENA region and that’s it. Someone really needs to quickly have a chat with your clients and tell them please, please get a new agency. And I don’t think you are the roster agency for any of these either, their are so lucky!

We didn’t because it’s based in London! And I don’t think at that time we really cared oh someone from Riyadh is going to enter it for European awards in any case. That apart it was the MD who contacted them not the creative department.
And we have people like you who catch these ‘criminals’ and rather support secondary work that your agency produces. Please don’t defend it by saying oh we are in Kuwait and it’s so hard to produce good work.
I still can’t get over ‘Try us, you’ll go bananas’ hahahaha….

If you think it is Ok then why did you contact them in the first place?

I do not think it is Ok for anyone to steal an idea, profit financially from selling it to their client, while hard working people who did not steal lost the pitch for being ethical. what happens next is such unethical agencies participate with plagiarized artworks in creativity competitions and IF they win they would have deprived an ethical agency or designer from their moment under the lime light. Awards are used as a marketing tool to attract new clients by means of differentiating themselves from other agencies and the cycle continues which some times leads to advertising awards scandals; which is bad for everyone in the industry.
