Cars

Source:http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2691207680/tt0317219

If they can afford to open a rent a car business and afford all these fancy cars…couldn’t they afford a professional to design their logo!!! Copying is not legal; which leads me to question how the company registered its name and logo with the ministry of commerce?!!! Something to think about ;) as long as the existing copyright laws are not actively enforced this phenomena will continue.

Another ad from Kuwait featuring charecters from the movie “Cars”!!!

A logo (Greek λογότυπος = logotypos) is a graphical element, (ideogram, symbol, emblem, icon, sign) that, together with its logotype (a uniquely set and arranged typeface) form a trademark or commercial brand. Typically, a logo’s design is for immediate recognition, inspiring trust, admiration, loyalty and an implied superiority.[1] The logo is one aspect of a company’s commercial brand, or economic entity, and its shapes, colors, fonts, and images usually are different from others in a similar market. Logos are also used to identify organizations and other non-commercial entities.

Howst Hanging?

Original: Aramax
Less Original: Oskar

Less original: Alimtiaz Investment

Agency: P&A

Country: Kuwait – 2008.

First of all, all of the featured ads on this post were published in the same market (Kuwait), the first to hit the scene was the Aramex ad with an appropriate headline “from anywhere in the world…to your wardrobe” makes perfect sense to put a fashion magazine or catalogue on a hanger, you get the point ;) the Oscar ad for interior design is attempting to create a relationship between the hanger and an interior photo!!! I don’t get it! what i get is that someone desperately wanted to copy the idea of Aramex becouse someone told them its cool (just guessing). The Imtiaz ad just makes me crack up, an ad for a Kuwaiti investment company with the headline “Don’t freeze your money…invest it with excellence” yet the money is hanging on hangers!!! a hint about money laundry perhaps? wrong association. bad. very bad. check out this link Kuwait at risk for money laundering, terror funding

Opinions may vary about the quality of execution or the originality of the concepts however the undeniable fact is that this work has not been “published” ;) and should not have been entered into the ACT initiative.

Playing by the rules means you don’t make ghost ads to enter awards and compete unethically with creative directors who participate with REAL work that is approved by clients and is published.
